STROLE MUSIC

Strole formed in september of 2006, with hopes to play at their schools talent show. But as time went on they got better and better, and they started to become a real band, and began to book shows.

The band was originally formed by, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Frankie Furillo (BudFrancis), and drummer, Zachary Strohl. After a while, they knew they needed something more, so they added bass player, Ryan Baumgartner into the picture. All three of them mashed together perfectly, making a new Indie Rock band for the ages.

Their sound is not something you would expect from a bunch of 14-year-olds...

"I listen to a lot of Modest Mouse," BudFrancis says, "Mixed in with The Pixies and Weezer and Lou Reed. Every other song has a different sound. Like, I would a song that sounds so much like an early Modest Mouse song. Then I would go and make a song that sounds a lot like Lou Reed. Sometimes I write songs that have guitar riffs that are so obviously Green Day, and make vocals that sound like The Pixies."

The song "Keyless", one of Strole's greatest hits has that feature.

"Yeah," BudFrancis countinues, "[Keyless] starts of sounding like Modest Mouse, then it goes into Green Day, and then the vocals are Lou Reed. Its like, Modest Green Reed. That's what we should have named the band."

So where is the album?

"You see," He countinues, "I want to make the album really great. Not to mention that I am recording on a little pre-amp that is hooked up into my computer. It's also really hard with school and all that to make rehearsals with the band, so we don't have the chance to write a bunch of songs at once."

When is the touring going to happen?

"Well first of all, I want to get the record all profesionally recorded, in a studio and all that, second of all, we have to find a time where we are all out of school for a long time, like summer. We are still doing shows and stuff, but only around Madison [Wisconsin]. We have an upcoming show [there] at The Klinic Bar, November 18th."

What is life like currently with the band?

"Right now, we are just all preparing for the November show, and trying to set up more reahersals. All the kids at school are excited to come see us. Oh and you know whats freaky? Our show November 18th is 8 days after Zach [Strohl] and I go see Modest Mouse perform. It's also 8 days before my sister's birthday! But the real freaky thing is, 8 is my favorite number!"

BudFrancis is a generally weird person...

"The last time I saw Modest Mouse perform, was back in April [2007], it was an awseome show. Right before the show, Zach [Strohl], my mom, and I we just walking around the autotorium, looking in through windows and stuff trying to see if Isaac [Brock] (Frontman of Modest Mouse) was back stage. There is like a crap-load of homeless people in Chicago, so like we were walking down this alley, and we saw this homeless guy sleeping, and we thought he was dead, but he woke up. Also we needed to find how to get to the autotorium, so we asked this random guy, and he started like, naming off all the streets for where to go, and I'm like 'Woah, this dude's got some awseome memory' and he like stopped a trolly for us to get on. He was so nice, and it turned out he was homeless!"

So what's the deal with Isaac Brock

"After the whole homeless guy thing, and trying to find Isaac through the windows," BudFrancis countinued "We were just like, 'screw it', but when we went back out to the front, we saw this bus at the end of the street, in a private parking lot. So we were like 'let's check it out', so we went up to the bus, knocked on the door, and this lady came out, and we were like 'hey, who's bus is this?' and the lady just said 'Modest Mouse's' and I almost fainted, but it was Modest Mouse's family bus. My mom, being the artsie type, decareted this wood suitcase, with little miny Modest Mouse pictures, so we gave it to her to give to Isaac. She said 'okay' and pointed out Modest Mouse's real buses, and told us that they were at sound check right now. So we waited by the buses for about 20 minutes, when Zach said 'Hey look, it's Johnny Marr!' (The guitarist of Modest Mouse) so I was like 'no way' but then I looked and there he was, walking down the street with someone, couldn't tell who it was. But as they got closer, I could tell that it was Isaac Brock himself."

What did you say?

"Well, we went up to him, and we just talked to him about the autotorium, and how we loved him so much, and how my mom made the suitcase, and he told us to go get it and bring it back to him, so we did, and he gave us autographs and we talked to him some more, and he complemented our name [Strole]. Isaac is a really nice guy."
